i started cycling my 70 gallon two days ago, and just this morning i looked inside and there is a kind of white scum/fungus, thing growing on the rocks and on the filter cartridge, any help as to what it is will be greatly appreciated

pics would help.. i wouldnt worry about it just yet it has only been a few days. what are you cycling the tank with? and what type of lighting are you running?

have to know what you are cycling with first. Could be directly related to that. Hope its not one of those 'instant cycle' wastes of money.:grinno:

Ditto as above. Pics would be helpful and how you're cycling is needed.

More info needed but for now I wouldnt be too worried as you can get some strange stuff until you grow your bacteria

what am i cycling it with? i put water in, put some salt and aqua safe and let it run, im not really putting any light on it as there is no need

Nuthin is going to cycle that way...
When we talk about cycling, we are talking about the nitrogen cycle...

Do you have a good test kit?
If so good...
If not get one, you'll need it to cycle the tank...

You'll also need some pure 100% ammonia, smallest jug you can find.
the kind that is water clear...
Shake the jug, if it bubbles up, and stays frothy, no good,
if it looks like water when you shake it , great, that's the stuff you want...

When you get at least that much stuff together, you'll be ready to start cycling the tank...

I can/will help you all the way through it...
I applaud you for not doing this AFTER you filled it with fish...:headbang2
