I've used it before and, as advertised, it cycled overnight. Good point.
BTW, I've never seen a callichthys catfish in any fish store. In fact, the only one I ever saw went under the name 'Puff Daddy'.
I see them every once in a while, last time was a three incher at Wal-mart in a tank full of mixed catfish labelled "assorted catfish $6.99 each".
I have read the literature on the biospira and while I haven't used it they have a good reputation, just make sure the lfs stores it refridgerated, the local Petsmart has it on a shelf, the dummies.

You might do your fellow fish keepers a favor by sending emails (with a photo) about this to the store manager and to marineland.

You are right that it is worthless now.

I talked to a Marineland representative at the big city's good (not a chain) pet stores "Sale Of The Century" and he was very informative about the products' developement etc. He was very specific about refrigeration of a LIVE PRODUCT and calculated the amount we would need and dished it up personally (from a refer)... I enjoyed talking to all those factory reps about filtration and everything else.

Seed the filters with either media from a working filter or sludge from one. For a 90g tank 4 convicts might work. A couple of blue or snakeskin gouramis would be good, they are very hardy. One fish that works well is danios of almost any kind, suprisingly they will live in damn near any conditions as will this callichthys catfish, it would damn near live in raw sewage.

I saw a cat similar to that only its coloration was like a leopard.
