thanks jcardona...yea this cylcing time is freakin KILLIN me but itll all be worth it in the end sooo

Liljoe, do not do any cleaning on your filters until your tank is fully cycled. As far as the PH is concered. I wouldn't be to worried about it until you get closer. Then check the PH and see what it is. If I were you, I would stay away from chemicals to raise and lower PH. Depending on what you plan to stock, as long as you keep it consistant, most fish will adapt fine as long as it is in a decent range.

i think what jcardona is saying Dixon is the fact that u had fish in there from the beginning is that by having those fish in there eating and excreted there waste, which converts into ammonia ,which is necessary for BB needed to establish a tank, is indeed still cycling a tank...im fishless cycling which is im adding the ammonia manually from CLEAR ammonia. This is much safer for your fish being they dont have to survive,IF they do, the high ammount of ammonia the fish will produce before the filters have established the BB needed for your setup

not tryin to be a punk or nothin just tryin to better explain things, IF that helped bc im NO pro yet...hahaha

Youre right liljoe, all tanks have to cycle, its just a fact, unless you install a filter that has already been cycled on another tank and maybe some old substrate from another tank as well. Dixon's tanks cycled with the fish in them, maybe he just kept up on the water changes and the fish lived through some ammonia and nitrite spikes. Did you do frequent water changes, and did your fish show any signs of stress when you dumped them in without establishing some BB first Dixon?
