okay. i get it .. every guide i read has it saying add ammonia every day .. can someone show me the guide or give me details as to how to go about doing this the ammonia way if im only home every third day. can i just add more ammonia then prescribed every third day? .. right now i have my younger sister giving the oscar a bit of food everyday but she complains about that. no way i'd be able to get her adding ammonia or using test kits. so is there a way to go with the ammonia route if im only home every third day?

at first it will take awhile for the bacteria to go through the ammonia, since their just starting to establish. over time the process will become quicker and quicker as the bacteria multiple. the only way u will know its time to add ammonia is by testing. someone needs to do it... if u don't trust ur sister to do it and u don't have time to. then it would be pretty irresponsible to set up the tank at this point in time.

why would it be irrisponsible .. you make no sence. once again .. as ive already stated .. starting two mondays from now i'll be stepping down from running that company and will have lots of time home to take care of the fish. but my main lfs is closing as they go on vacation for a good while so had to order my fish now while they were available (will be in and ready for me. 3 wed's from now. anyways. i don't see how it's irrisponsible. and yes i do. no reeason to talk like that .. not my first tank .. ive cycled all my tanks by not knowing the difference and letting the fish do it .. surprisingly never lost a fish yet. ive only had 2 fish die on me and neither were close at all to the tank cycling.
