Cynos get a buddy.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
they look nice and all but there completion is not as predatory as i would like more intrested in finding some Wall's.. But ill see what i can do..

Walls would be great, but Cynos have been brought in before. So we know there's a source. I don't have the kinda $ it takes to be involved in buying a very rarely if ever imported fish unless for some reason they are abnormally cheap for an uber rare fish. If that's the case please sign me up!! :)

Fish that look like killers are great if you're into the whole house it solo or wonder what's gonna be dead when you get home thing. I'd like more Cynos as I know they play well with others, and do excellent in captivity. It would be tragic if the Walls suffer from the same unexpected death syndrome as the Scombs.

Any way you look at it we need a source for these rarer South American Characins. :)

G had 8. Wonder what the chances are of being able to track down the other 6. :naughty::drool:

We SERIOUSLY need to get someone to bring a batch in. I'd give up almost any non ray fish in my house for more Cynos. I'd be perfectly happy with a tank full of Odoe and Cynos.

Maybe we need to get a list of potential buyers together to gauge interest to see if there is even enough to try to get a vendor to bring some in. :naughty:

I know these fish would be enjoyed by everyone that's sick of the BS involved with Hydros. The Tats grow too dam slow. Armatus are mean and get almost too big to be able to be manageable. Scombs we all know aren't even worth the time. Rhaphs just like all the Hydros are skiddish. Life with Cynos is just stress free easy going, no worry about random freakouts, picky eating, dying for no reason, lashing out on tankmates, smashed up faces, and they seem so passive that almost any tankmates of relevant size are accepted. I still love the Hydros, but man you can only put so many in the freezer before a small part of you begins hating all the stress involved with them.
Unless the batch that George had was an unintentional shipment,(it could be that they were upposed to be and ordered as Armatus)it would seem that he has the best chance of getting more brought in.I agree,I love my tats and armatus but they have to be the prima donas of the characins.I had a trio of tats and the biggest one killed one of the others and he seems to be starting with the other one.

I had to seperate the runt of my Armatus group last night. Good deal of exposed flesh compliments of a forehead shanking.

The Hydros are just so expensive. It's like taking $100 bills and dousing them with gas and holding them in your hand while smoking a cigarette. Ticking timebombs. It's fun at first but then it's just like an anoying blister that never heals.

I've never felt this way with the Cynos. They swim together, follow eachother around all day. If they do this in a pair I imagine a group would be even safer.

Gonna do some checking around.....

well as much as i agree with you, its not gonna happen. rare fish will remain pricey until laws change. Finding any and all of most S/A fish is only raising in difficulty to obtain. And if obtained true w/c will increase in value.. sorry if i went off on another tangent but this is happening.

Look how much Armatus used to cost. Pretty sure the first ones were into 4 digits and brought in from Japan. Look what they cost now. Aimara have come down as well. The Cynos weren't terrible, and as far as I know G was the first to bring them in. I bet if he brought in 3-4 inchers they would have been even better priced. I've heard another vendor refer to them as Green Striped Dentons, and apparently are very reasonably priced.

I believe you though, it sounds like you have connections. I don't, just going on what I've seen for sale and what I've bought over the last few years as a consumer. Never had my hands in import/export stuff. BUT I do know export out is getting tougher and tougher all the time.
