entry level DSLR, really the only place to start for someone with no slr experience, very cheap aswell.

cool......would you recomned it

Mike Dunagan has a D-40. He really likes it. they are really easy to use even if you are new to photography. You'll find more and more things you can do with it as you learn. There's nothing like a good DSLR.

i was under the impression mike shot a Canon 40D?

anyways, there's a learning curve with DSLR's and there not as forgiving as simple P&S cams, you could look into the D40x and D60 models aswell as a large line of canon entry level camera's. XS, XSI, etc.

whats the differnce between d40 and d40x?

Mp amount, that's about it.

is 6.1 mp really low... and do you think a d40 with 18-55mm lens for 320 is a good deal?
