Yeah, that front looks like a brute.

What do you think would work well as dithers?

I have as dither fish:

3 banded Myleus (myleus schomburki ,.... ithink) - @ 5 inch
1 flagtail @ 6.5 inch
2 Archer (freshwater ones) @ 5 inch each.
2 clown loaches @ 4 and 5 inch.

IMO , i choise the above, cause, they look attractive, always swimming around, and occupy middle and top of tank. Also, their quite competitive eaters, which induces the tigers to follow.

Non of the above EVER get attacked, after 1 year in the same tank.;)

I definitely want a flagtail, but also some Irian Red Rainbowfish, they get around 6", do you think they would be big enough or would they be eaten?

I'd bet the rainbow fish will eventually be eaten, but should be fine until the dat gets big.

I thought they needed brackish to full marine though?

Or are there types that can thrive in freshwater?

I kept mine in brackish. When I started keeping dats they were all considered brackish. Most fish will be fine in brackish. I also kept clown loaches with them (in brackish) and agree with Ade. They work well together. My ST ate just about anything that would fit in it's mouth, but somehow it knew not to eat those loaches.

Clowns in brackish? Were they doing well?

Hmm, that makes me want to get some clowns. My pH is right around 8.2 and my cheapo test kit says it's "hard" to "very hard".

Wow, i'm highjacking my own thread.

And about the rainbows, i read that they are some bad planteaters, i don't want that.

I'll keep looking, but what about some blood parrots?
