As for flocks, I actually saw more of them in FL. I have never seen a wild Quaker here not to say they do not exist. I have heard of flocks in NY tho ;) they are considered a pest in PA, and WA they are destroying they are exterminating them because they make their nests (colonies) on telephone poles etc. They are considered a pest in places where there are crops because (like my bugger) they are known to take a bite of something and then go onto something else (hence BRAT!) so the produce rots.

As for age, he was born in 06 but don't know his hatch date. He came from FL even tho I purchased him here in NH. I should look up the info on his band...
Glad to hear there are other kooky quakers. He likes Saturday & Sunday when mommy and daddy are sleeping cause I usually bring him in the bed and let him "crawl under the blanket fort" where it's nice and warm. He chews my sheets, pillows, and PJs or cuddles into my face and falls asleep.

Thanks all, I love him to pcs! I don't know what life would be like without him, even those early Saturday morning wake ups before 7am.
where did you get him?

Yes lots flocks around here but when I lived in Long Island NY we also had them there . The more the better as far as I am concerned .

Some use traps to catch them and sell them thus all the ads in bird sites/craigs list of non tame Quaker's for sale from this state.
IMO HUGE mistake to buy wild adult will never be 1/100th as tame as yours.

They are loud but lots personality and I find them smart .

Have you thought of getting another or similiar size conure, etc ?

I ask as they seem to enjoy each others company.

I allways see them in groups. They are pretty underrated birds.
I won't get on my soap box but yes it is a shame what they do to them. I agree I wouldn't want a wild bird much harder to tame. Yes they are very loud LOL but can be taught to do other things (like ring and ring and ring a bell)

I have actually been wanting a Sun Conure for the longest time but they are much louder IMHO than Quakers so I want to wait until I get a house. There are a pair on Quakers at my LFS (don't get my started they are bonded, untamed, and cage aggressive not to mention one is plucked) they make a crap load of noise. Also been considering a Lory but they are so much different than the hook bills. I have also seen people who have Love birds with their Quakers but I would be afraid mine would tear one to bits. So for now it's the solo brat until I get a house and then my real objective is to obtain a Hyacinth Mccaw, I fell in love with one and haven't been able to look at another bird the same way since.

Yes conures are loud they scream. The lady next door has cockatails-half moon and nanday conures in her yard and when I am in my yard I hear the conures screaming but perhaps its because that In like birds that I find it a "nice noise" and enjoy it.

Conures have lots personality like Quakers . Real characters
