Well, I have a monster on my hands. We have an earthen pond that floods with a creek maybe 3 times a year. Well normally we have a giant toadspawn. The first night we had a million. 2 days and they are gone with no eggs layed. They didn't leave, it's a bass or a catfish. I saw it hit once and water sprayed everywhere and rained down on a 8 foot radius :WHOA: I walked by where the toads normally are and couldn't see anything but then I saw a big swirl and a cloud of dirt, basically a wave came up on the shore. This was a huge swirl. It has eaten about 30 or so toads. Toads are poisonous and should've killed it. No dead fish so far. How do I catch this monster. It has to be at least 10 pounds. I've seen 6-7 lb fish in the creek. Catching tips please. The pond is about half an acre big and around 13 feet deep, maybe 15

Get yourself a big cast net and throw it out there. Get the biggest one you can find. Do you have a boat? If so take it out so you can cover more area. Just keep movin around until you get it.

Or get a nice heavy line. 40 lbs and catch a toad. Hook it on alive with no weights (so it can swim) then toss it out there and just wait.

yeah personally i wouldnt be able to hook it but if thats what its eating then thats your best bet. No lures more realistic than the real thing.

use a toad unless you cant find it in yourself to hook it. if so use lures, topwater i would guess since whatever it is is eating toads that generally dont completely submerge themselves like frogs do. What else have you caught in the pond, anything? once you do some investigating you will most likely know what your dealing with and know the lure for it. artificial is always more fun!

I say try a nice big fat night crawler. If its a catfish that would work and if its a bass it would work too.

Wait till it starts getting dark get a plastic worm lure cast it along the bank about 2 feet off the bank slowly reel it in reel so slow that you feel the bottom of the pond normally large bass sit around this area waiting on crayfish, minnows, frogs and bugs
