Ya ill see. I think its far from me. I'll double check. My dad doesn't really want to drive an hour or so for a fish tank. That's another reason I wanted to build one

your fish will look little In a tank that size. and the pic with the oscar in it, the waters merky and tinted green. you should look at cleanning up that tank first befor your looking at making a bigger one. If you cant keep a smaller one clean, how are you planning on cleanning one 5x bigger.

I believe somewhere along here, you said were in North Jersey? I went on CL, here are some that I found 100 gal+ up and under $600 (which is still VERY expensive I realize, holy cow are prices there HIGH!)
100 Gal (6 feet long)- $425 tank, stand, and canopy http://newjersey.craigslist.org/hsh/2991617013.html
130 Gal (6 feet long)- $500 tank, stand, lights, filter http://newjersey.craigslist.org/fuo/2981385768.html
125 Gal (fully set up with fish)- $600 or will trade, I believe you mentioned you had quads somewhere? http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/bar/2990220870.html
(You'd obviously have to ask him to rehome the fish, or rehome them yourself)
180 Gal (just the tank itself, but you could build a stand I bet!) http://newjersey.craigslist.org/pet/2920079656.html

125 Gal (tank, stand, custom light, and filter)- $500 OBO http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/for/2952311101.html
250 Gal (5 foot, tank, filter, and stand)- $500 http://newjersey.craigslist.org/for/2922947855.html
150 Gal (tank, canopy, stand, I think the filter too, 72") $550 http://newjersey.craigslist.org/for/2951605065.html
125 Gal (tank, hood, bulbs, etc.) $500 http://newjersey.craigslist.org/pet/2978532643.html
110 Gal (tank, lights, canister filter) $350 OBO http://newjersey.craigslist.org/search/pet?query=aquarium&srchType=A
110 Gal (tank, hood, filter, and lights) $400 OBO http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/pet/2971350573.html
150 Gal (tank only no price listed) http://newjersey.craigslist.org/pet/2977611246.html

Hopefully this helps a little bit if you don't want to make a tank. I can't get over how darn expensive everything is there!
Here's what $500 can get you where I live http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/for/2980929196.html

Convince your dad to drive. Picking up that 250g complete system will save u a hella lot compared to building your own and spending thousands on filtration and other needs. Yes it's very expensive running a monster tank. Ppl don't realize it until they actually set one up. My whole 450g system ran me nearly $6000 and my sump/filtration I DIY on it. I would say I'm well in the $5000 range already. Then the expense on utilities+ maintenance/food cost....even if the OP decides to build his own 500 gallon he probabely save a couple thousand at most. In the end It's gonna still cost him a few thousand for everything.

Come on now Andrew. You're making excuses now. Most people commute an hour every day for work. If your dad won't take the time to do that, I doubt he'd do everything it takes to build one. You have to drive to get supplies...

My water is crystal clear. Not sure why the picture is green

I'll be completely honest with you. I feel like a 250 is a baby tank compared to my plywood tank I was going to build. I wanted a truly BIG tank. Idk I really want anything I can get to make my fish happier. I'll get my dad to drive there I guess. I just need him to give me my $600. The guy still hasnt emailed me back yet either... Might have sold already. I'll keep looking around if he doesn't email me back by next week.

I can only imagine how tricky a 500G would be to clean? I can just manage my 200 without the need of a small step ladder for the hard to reach places...

And i can imagine how much you want a 500G i mean heck im sure a lot of us would, but sometimes its better to reign it in a little... Especially if you still got college and everything else in front of you, a lot in life has yet to happen and im sure a lot will change... Just imagine trying to move a 500G tank from one home to another...
