as the title says how would i go about to make my water pump in my sump quieter (a lot quieter) or even better silent! the loud pump just adds to the water splashing noise & its too loud and annoying (motor noise),(which im gonna fix by extending the pipe down more so its submerged underwater)
so any inputs?

x2 pics of sump and type of pump

i dont know what kind of pump it is it came with the tank i bought its grey
(ill ask the guy and update on which pump it is)

the sump is a acrylic tank divided into 2 sections. one side has the return with the pump and the other side the drain which flows (waterfall style) into the return section pretty simple sump with pvc pipes and a acrylic tank. ( i put pipe insulators or w/e on the pipes so they wont make noise from vibrating) its just the motor noise that bugs.

the pump is a rio 32hf

i have th esame pump and i hate it a way to help with your problem is to put foam or a sponge under it also to insulate and stuff your stand with foam it really helps but the pump still vibrates a little im actually looking for a new one

Maybe try to put a piece of styrofoam under the pump? Basically it's vibrating off the acrylic of the sump. I have that problem every now and then and I just re-position the pump and the noise goes away.

i have a one of those nice japanese media under the pump it came with it when i got it should i take it out and put styrofoam under it?

sounds like a dam laudnry room in my room.... ugh! any help anyone? please? i hear nasty motor noise (kinda like i see dead people o.O?)

Get a better pump. Eheim pumps are known for their quietness.

You can also put some sort of vibration absorber at the bottom of the pump to reduce the vibration of glass.
I used a sponge and 2 filter pads sewed top and bottom
