dam sump is louder than a _____

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the thing is the pump doesnt touch the bottom i put a styrofoam and under that theres the japanese grade a filter media also. i think i should just change the pump to a different one but i dont know much about pumps and sump filter. which pump brand/model is similar to the one i have rio 32hf. right now i get 1300gph so around 8x the return i want one similar to the rio 32hf but dead silent if possible stronger & dead silent and very quiet since its in my room.

just noticed i said dead silent and very quiet... meant to or not and lol

If you want a very quiet pump, Eheim or Tunze recirculation pumps will do it.
If you want a dead silent velocity pump will give you that.

will a velocity pump be stronger or strong as this rio32hf? and which model would be similar to it?

i read online it does and also the guy i bought it from said its around there also

Make sure its not hard Styrofoam or it will just transfer the vibration right through and back to the sump.

You can build silent sumps, just make sure all water pipes return and draw from under water. No air, no splashing, and damping pads for the pumps, and if you can use tubing rather then pvc to connect the pump, as the pvc will carry the vibration to the tank, which will carry it to the stand, ect ect noise.

I had this same pump and it did less then 750 at a very low head as in less then 5', it truly was only good for my small 40 gallon tank.
