Theres a small silver arowana at one of my LFS for a deal but thats because its pretty rough. Are these guys pretty tough? It swims around fine and seems active but the fins are shreded and some scales are a little off. I would like to rescue this guy as long as he will come back to his rightful glory.

What do you guys think?

Some TLC and good water should bring him back up to his normal self.

Got a pic?

HOW small are we talkin??

its about 6-7 inch, no pics because I was just there to "Look" but you all know how that goes.

6"-7" is aroudn where they start being less delicate but still... How long has the store had it??

6-7" isn't so small, he will heal in time arowanas are super fast healers. A little salt anti bacterial meds = healed in a month minimum.

They said a few months but its in a tiny tank and the quality of life at this LFS is much lower than most unfortunately. I only go there from time to time because they stock lots of aggressive odd balls. It was marked at $60 but when I commented on its shape he said he would sell it for $40. Good Deal?

40.00 is regular for aroudn my area.. I heard cheaper elsewhere.. But it is always cheaper somewhere else :D

If it's been there that long it should be ok.. But What has been eating it??? Whats in the tank with it'

hmmh they are 5-10 dollars for 2-5" 6"+ are around 20 dollars+, you should try to negotiate and point out that its really damaged for 30 bux.
