So... I saw a senegal bichir at the lfs the other day... thought they were cool as hell. And they weren't expensive. So I get online, read up on them blah blah blah.

See all the other cool ones. But I have never seen those at an LFS, so I get online to check how much they were...

and these things aren't cheap lol :( most were 60+ other than the senegal or ornate :(

Is this normal or do I just need to check around the internet some more? This sucks for a poor college student haha

well it depends on size but it sounds normalish. I guess there may be a few other sp. you could get a bit cheaper like a del.

Whats a del (bichir newb here)?

Only ones I saw under 60 were ornates, senegals, and albino senegals.

Let me know what you're looking for I can find some decent deals in IN. I've seen Delhezis for 30-35 bucks.

yeah i agree it also depends on size. for senegal and albino senegal, you can usually get any size under 60...for others like ornate, delhezi, you should be able to get small ones like under 6" or so under 60 as well. really small ones (like 3"-4") of some of the other less common species also probably go for under 60, but you usually have to get them online, so you have to add the shipping cost. other than that, 60+ sounds about right.

i'm actually glad that i'm into bichirs and not other kinds of fish as most bichirs aren't that expensive compared to other fish. imagine if i were into stingrays...

I will definitely keep that in mind though thanks

www.petsolutions.com has delhezi's for $22.50 if i remember, but of course you have to add on shipping.

your best bet for online bichir is rehobothaquatics as they have about every species and even palmas palmas is only $50.
