i have 2 CLs in a 180g tank with a bunch of catfish, plecos, angelfish and rainbow fish. I usually feed them with floating pellets, sinking pellets and shrimps. I also add some bloodworms at the bottom of my tank once every 2-3 days for the CLs BUT my other fish eat them in a sec and i put a lot! is there a special way to feed them or can i just not feed them bloodworms cuz im getting really annoyed! i also use my hands to empty the cup of bloodworms at the bottom and i always have my fish bitting me, it doesnt hurt but its really annoying. so are bloodworms essentiel or can i replace them with smt else?? help plz:headbang2

take a one inch pvc pipe add a 90 elbow to it...leave the length so it sticks above the water line and out of the tank....At lights out, prop it in a corner, resting on the elbow . Then drop a few Blood worm , brine shrimp, etc. cubes in there to thaw .

I use one all the time for a loach feeding station. Just be careful when removing the tube in the morning guarenteed one or two CL's have crawled inside.:headbang2

Yep. Feeding tubes working well. They will quickly learn to get to the end of the tube within a couple of weeks.

Balton, I also suffered allergic reactions the first time I handled them. Bloodworms have been known for allergic reactions to a fair number of people. Perhaps use gloves?

They're one of the few things I'm severely allergic to. It might be in my head but the tank water makes me itch when I've fed bloodworms.

its th proteins but just use pvc pipe and let it go down to the botteem through that.

My loaches have learned to eat from the surface. They will eat floating cichlid pellets even, although they have a hard time grabbing them because they are fairly large compared to their mouths.

How many loaches do you have? Mine are very bold and devour food before other fish get to it.

If you have a problem getting food to the loaches, and they won't feed high in the water column, this is a good option.

Feeding tube, very interesting idea. I still won't feed bloodworms, they make me itch like crazy.

I'm allergic to bloodworms too. I break off a chunk in the bag, or if I have to handle them, I use purple nitrile gloves. If I touch them, I get itchy skin too.
