:swear:for the second time i was awoke to the sounds of coyotes yiping yowling and howling and the yiping wineing of dogs they keep on jumping over fences and walls into peoples yards, i live in a very populated area and are killing and carrying off there small to medium sized dogs:eek:it is awful and loud always lasting for about 10-15 minuts. its alwayws a pack, i own a small dog and they are jumping over walls and fences by running and then jumping into peoples backyards and stealing there dogs wat should i do:nilly::nilly::help2:it could be becuase the drought has killed of almost all of the grass and greenery it really looks like a desert in the hills behind my house it is usely always green or tanish gold but it is like barren this year, meaning no food for rabbits and squirles to eat plus the coyotes ate them all and there is no more coyote food besides pets witch doesnt help at all

i was researching and it appears that researchers fear coyotes in areas of cali are beginning to lose there fear of humans and prey on dogs, cats almost weekley, daily and even are beginning to attack people such as small children or hobos :WTF:they also seem to hunt in packs more . coyotes are able to easily jump over 6-7' fences or walls by running and leaping over them or climbing over them as well as digging under them:eek3:. i dont know wat i should do about my dog she is a yorkiepom and is smaller than a large rabbit and i have to let her out but as it seems the wall around my yard might not do much but also should i have a gun with me when im out at night in the hills?

Dont let your dog out at night, but if you need to, be out there to watch and bring yur dog in immediately after it does its business. Dont take your eyes off your dog either. What you can do is try to take it into your own hands and try and kill off coyotes that are being pests. If not, then leave it up to others to do this.

Also, coyotes get spoooked easily. Even a group of them will be scared of a big adult. I use to ride a bike at ngiht coming home from work and I use to ride in some back streets and there would be groups of them. They would just look at me and were a bit nervous when they'd see me. When they are in groups, if they size a target up and the target is small, they will think you are prey. But mostly, coyotes are afraid of people.

lol, make some snare traps...

not really. sit out on your back porch with a rifle and wait for those suckers to come out.

i cant kill them becuase i live in a urban area and i cant use my guns around my house i also dont think these coyotes live in the hills but more in the city i will never keep my eyes off my dog becuase they have been seen during the day and if one jumps into my yard i will shoot it

You dont even really need to shoot coyotes, just yellign at them will scare them. But if they are pests that keep coming back they need to probably be killed.

forgot my backyard iws also pretty small and has a wall witch is mainly only a foot and six inches tall and then it is a bunch of glass panels drilled into the wall and sepperated by metal bars i dont know why the stupid peaple who built the wall made it this way the wall is 5' and 8" tall alltogether

The only thing you can do is keep a look out. Dont let your small dog or children be without your eyes on them at all times. If coyotes are always lurking, then theres only 1 solution. It sounds like you have a real coyote problem there, which there must be something done to eliminate them. Get your city involved, your neighbors etc, or else you will always have to deal with this problem.

according to wat wildlife resaerchers are finding is unfortanately mainley in areas were the city meets the wilderness, like were i live they are beginning to ignore humans and continue on there buisness ,and are mainly hunting and killing in small packs of up to mainley 5 animals like the coyotes that are attacking here are in numbers rangeing from 5-7 coyotes in a single hunt. i will keep my dog inside until someone gets rid of the coyotes wich arent very far becuase they have attacked twice this week. once tonight witch it sounded very violent and i would say they jumped into a neighbors yard i would say6-7 coyotes jumped into the persons yard and got 2 or 3 dogs:( and then escaped with there kill the howling and yelping, wimpering lasted maybe almost 15 minuts the first time was three days ago and 5-6 of them got ahold of a dog and just two days ago i saw one come right up to the glass part of the wall of my yard and it started smelling me then i yelled at it and it just growled at me then i ran at it and it took off it was big maybe 30 pounds
