sorry for the loss.
mm.., I always left my tank open, thats because I dont have any budget to make the lid.
So far I left the water around 11" from the top, so that bichirs that get out, and its been almost 2 years now, I've never had bichirs jumping out of my tank.

ur scareing me ive had min e for a year im pretty attached to him ima go cover my tank more.
sorry for the losses

same thing happened to me the first night i got it. picked it up off the floor, washed it off for some reason and it started moving. threw it back in the tank and it was fine after a couple of hours. so i then tried to cover up the spot i thought it got out but apperently i didnt it was dead the next day.

thanx, it was good in a 180 with no top then i moved it to a 55...it was there for 6mos then this...it lived through a trip hlaf into the syphone, then left the tank

they may jump, ropes, but they're awesome !! i just lost one also and it's more then a chalk line when i lose a rope. i have one left who is soooo lonely, it seems and in az can't find one to even buy, is it like that in other states?

I'm sorry for your loss. It does sometimes seem like they're determined to suicide.

thanx, this one never tried except for the syphon incodent and this time...

Lost an endi the same way, was sure the tank was air tight--- proved wrong. I feel your pain, best way is to move on and try again make mods on the tank lid and go from there.

Best of luck.
