I would like to report mjmc for promoting illegal activities... Who do I contact?

This is actually a good point. If members recognize illegal activity and attempt to stop the activity, is there recourse? Who do we contact if the illegal activity is promoted by members?

Here in Wisconsin you can't import or export natives because of the VHS with out a not from a vet saying that the fish are disease free. Now it's going to be a pain to get natives for my tanks. Don't release your fish and empty any water from your boat and rinse it off when your move it to a new body of water. Please!

r u serious...

u guys act like little kids.

sure, i see the logic in promoting the idea of not letting fish back into the wild. but why do we have to revert to "tattling" as we called it in grade school.

if you dont like a member and/r their views Ignore them! its simple.

r u serious??? u guys???

And we are the ones acting like little kids?

So if you see someone shooting someone else on the street, do you turn your back?

Then I'd like all members (less mjmc) to ignore the following:

You have no business telling any aquarist the notion of any release of any fish at any time is acceptable. You've not been able to produce any evidence that your suggested practice is reasonable or accepted by any state or scientific body. Unless you can produce such evidence please don't bother practicing your guerilla ecology here.

This has been a most enjoyable read... not. 5 pages of..... I'm surprised it has lasted this long.

mjmc, you said you came here to do research and such. You also said you want empiricle proof that diseases won't move from an aquarium to a natural body of water. You know just as well as anyone else here, that proving a disease came from an aquarium to a natural water source is almost impossible. If officials find a disease in a lake/pond/whatever that is most commonly found in aquariums, they'll simply theorize that that is where it came from, that someone released it on accident. How on earth would they prove it came from someones aquarium unless someone stands up to say "I did it"?

I tell you what, call the Fish and Game and tell them you want to try catching fish, keeping them and then releasing them in the exact same place and study what effects it may or may not have. You and I both know what the answer will be.

You seem like an intelligent person, don't let personal differences sway your opinion.

Remember, just because there are no visual cues to a disease at the time of release, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. Relasing a diseased fish might do nothing, it might destroy the entire areas fish population. Is your personal enjoyment of keeping this fish worth the risk? I certainly don't think so.

All arguements aside, it's illegal. Plain and simple, there is no arguement to this.
