Has anyone purchased from Dan's Fish? I'm hoping to pick up some H. Notatus from him.

I decided to pull the trigger and order 3 Heros Notatus from Dan's. These are listed as tank raised. I did request that he send me fish with the most body spotting possible. Total cost with shipping was $112.45. UPS overnight.

Order to ship Thursday with Friday delivery. They are going to give me specimens with spotting too.

I recieved an email from the seller stating that he is prepping them to ship tonight. Also, that there had been some typical cichlid spat between them and one is missing some scales which I'm not worried about. He is fairly certain that the largest one he is sending is a male. :nilly: :naughty:

Well, I have not received a shipping confirmation email from the seller.

Did not ship yesterday. This evening, little disappointed.

I'm a super crummy videographer. I failed to check my camera view before I started but I do get the fish bag in the shot when I show it. UPS delivered at 1013. Each fish was individually double bag with heat sealed bags that were 1qt volume, I think. 2 of the Sev's are rather small, right at 2in if that. The largest is well over 3in. The coloring has me worried as they remind me of my turquoise sev's so hopefully I did not just special order in everyday turquoise sev's. I do have the seller's word on them being H. Notatus.

It’s hard to say. IMO they don’t look like young notatus, at least not the Guyana notatus. My F1 fry from my wild pairs had larger black spots and they were sort of arranged in horizontal rows. You should also see more bronze/yellow/gold in the chest and throat versus blue like other Heros. This is shared by both the Guyana and Brazil notatus.

(Ignore the smaller fish on the bottom, it’s H. sp. rotkeil.)
