I emailed Dan's Fish to ask about where these were sourced and what id the origin gave. He was very quick to respond. These are out of Indonesia and did cost him a lot more than regular Sev's. He does know how to care for sev's but is not overly familiar with the different sp. He does want to correctly identify the stock he has and make corrections if necessary.

. It's not that I don't like Heros Efasciatus, I do and I have several already. The point is that what I ordered and what I received are not correct. I paid $112 for fish that I can find locally all day long for significantly less.This experience won't keep me from ordering from Dan in the future if he has fish I want but I will be much more careful about sight unseen orders.
I just recieved an email from Dan asking for an update to see if there was any color change or better id. He included a picture of one from the group mine were pulled from.
The fish in that picture is a rotkeil which has 8 bars and the ones he sent you have 9 bars, so I don’t see how they’re from the same batch unless he either received hybrids or a mixed batch of fry.
I went to his website and under the "wish list" section he has the picture I posted labeled as a Rotkeil. So, I think he is confused.
