It has a very light base at the moment, maybe its just turning darker somewhat? looks weird tho! good luck with them!

Thanks all. The dark area continues to get bigger each day; it looks more like a ring now. The ray still isn't very active, but continues to eat well.

Is it fading at all, like a bruise does as it increases and ages? Or is it retaining the same color? I guess as long as he is feeding well.....Maybe activity level will increase as he settles in.

The area where is originated from is almost back to normal color. I'll get a new picture tomorrow.
