Is that like a bruise? IMO even with humans we get stubbed toes or bruises even if we are careful i recently had a weird bruising on my foot from a dropped object. That only impacted quarter sized part of foot and it spread all the way to 1/4 of my foot the 2nd day. Same can be applied to fish? Having some type of injury can happen to the most calm fish.
