darn thing wont move!

I am having a similar issue, with one of my apple snails. It has been quite active over the last few weeks and then all of a sudden it hasn't moved in a few days, I have even handled it with out it retracting fully into it's shell. Water params are 0,0,<10 with temp at about 76 slowly raising temp to 80. In the last week this same snail has laid a bunch of eggs.

I have smelled the snail and she is quite pottent smelling where as the other snail just smells like aquarium water. I'm pretty sure she is dead, the only issue i have is if she is dead wouldn't the other snail and fish be feeding on her?

maybe it just loves the spot that it is in?
Try moving it across the tank and see if it moves back ;)

Just an update, I checked it this morning and she is definitely dead, the easyist way to tell I think is the smell. What could have killed her? None of the fish in the tank really bother the snails, the only thing I can think of was the Male snail who would try to mate when ever he could. Could that stress cause her death?

It's possible. What are your fish?

i have hard water not sure exactly but no ammonia, or nitrites, very low nitrates, 8.2ph, 82 degrees, I have 2 african cichlid, 1 pearl gourami, 2 columbian shark catfish, and 1 clown loach in a 55gal tank, it still looks alive cuz it doesn't stay in the exact place but it doesnt move far nor does the tank smell. I thought about the loach but it doesnt look like it notice it and the snail is bigger than the loach. (I had 2 small white snails and they both died in like a week i think the loach got to them.)
You're mixing the snail with the wrong fish. African cichlids, Columbian sharks and loaches will constantly harass it.

Lupin, see my tank set up for the 55, I think the one doing the harasing was the male snale. I didn't think that a snall would count as an aggressive spiecies, the only other fish that goes near the snale is the albino Corries, every once and a while I'll see them cleaning the shell.

Snails aren't really aggressive but you have to understand males have a tendency of wanting to court the female despite her refusal. See Asolene spixi and Marisa cornuarietes. Apparently, if it is the male Marisa that is courting a female Asolene spixi, there is a chance she'll be crushed to death by the weight unlike otherwise.:WHOA: Just citing an example that there is always the possibility a male can stress a female to death much like the fish although in the example, the size difference would be the issue.
