  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
is it wise to starve them for 1 week when they are still juvenile. Some people say that it could be health problem if u starve then when they're small. So, wait until certain size then u can starve them. Is that true?

I tried to starve them for 3 days, but I'm afraid they die bracuse of starvation. So I stop starving them

If you fatten them up with shrimp first then there won't be a issue starving for a week

Only one, but he choked most of it down. A Hikari Jumbo Carni Stick. No more stuff he wants for another month, gonna make him demand the pellets. He grabs the Massivore almost every feeding, but has never eaten one. He almost never gives these a try, but took it like a champ!:nilly:

UPDATE The guy has not eaten since that I can tell. I threw 4 little 3 inchers in with him last week that are eating mini Hikari sinking mini pellets. He may have snuck a few of them, not sure. I will wait another week before I throw M&M's in again. (krill)

Congrats on progress with dry/pellet food! He got a taste of dry good, so at least should recognize it as food source. He'll come thru, just b patient. I always waited till my dats were at least 4" before pellet training. 1st had to change my gars diet that lived with them, since they all ate same food, n no chance my 12yr old Gar was taking pellets. Started hand feeding him silversides, then Cut them off beefheart, krill, mysis, etc and starved dats for 2weeks. Was amazed how quickly they accepted pellets. Guess I got lucky, now only thing my dats want to eat is Massivore. They see that bag, and they go nuts, swim rite to surface. Occasionally feed them a couple dozen ghost shrimp for a treat ;)

another UPDATE: Never ate again, that I can tell. The 4 babies I put in are FAT they eat so much pellets. Big guy watches, but won't eat. Finally had to cave in yesterday and give him the krill he wants and this morning as well. About 5 weeks and he ate one Hikari jumbo carnivore stick. Thawing some shrimp now, and will try stuffing with the baby pellets. Going to fatten him up for a few days with that and back to starving. Hopefully the babies will eventually teach him as they grow and start eating bigger stuff. I am thinking about starving everyone for about 4 days (babies will still get baby pellets) and soaking the sticks in some krill water for a few minutes. Maybe if he gets one in his mouth and it is krill flavored it will help. I haven't done it before because he normally won't even taste one. Wish me luck, and I will update again when there is success, or I am ready to fry him. Not sure what will happen first.
