Datnoids are common in Asia.

Reason why they're not so often available in the US is because they're all sold in Asia.

No need to explain, it's true. Of course I exaggerated by saying they're as common as oscars, but....

Datnioides pulcher are protected in Thailand, but the fact is, most of the datnoids available in the hobby are from neighboring countries such as Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Burma, etc.

man did i get the short end of the stick... I'm stocking up on dats in canton.. hopefully i can bring em across the boarder

there's really no "season", as they're available year round.

it's just the matter of when they're available to US importers.

they are as common in Asia as oscars in the US, but not all exporters are willing to sell to the cheap Americans when there's a big market for them right at home.

not seasonal

I'm still waiting for NGT's to show up on the list for hawaii. I just might have to pay $100 for a pulcher without even knowing the size. In hawaii, Pulchers come only once a year and they are always expensive.

In some ways yes and no. Salt water fish is practicaly free cause were surrounded by the ocean. As for freshwater, sometimes we have things for cheaper than other people posted on the forums. Its the shipping that kills us. That and our strict import laws. Almost every monster fish is illegal!:swear:
