Im very new to dats and and curious on their general behavior. I thankfully received some advice from this forum on feeding, but am wondering if they always hide. I never see them out, my 3- 2.5 to 3 in dats all cram into a 6 by 8 in cave. Is this normal? Should i remove the cave, what should i do to increase activity...water params, temp etc. is all great...please let me know.

Mine don't really move much. I have 5 and 2 hide usually and the others just stay vertically in the front corners of my tank
mine seem to come out a good deal, hide some, then come back out for a bit. i think size makes a difference and if you can have some tankmates...my tank is quite crowded.
tank mates make all the difference with young dats it looked like i had a bare tank rock caves and water before i added the loaches and polly now with those additions i see 3 out of the 6 on a regular basis and all my fish during lunch time i feed pallet 2X a day and blood worms once in between
Dither fish help with small Dats. They feel more comfortable if more fish were out and about. All of them have different personalities though. I have some that are curious and comes up to the front if I stand there long enough and others will just stay in the back. As they grow larger, they should become more comfortable and come out more often.
Tigers especially small ones can takes time to settle in, swim about and display.

Agree with Benz13, some are alot more outgoing than others. Some a re just plain shy. I have an 8 inch IT that is hardy ever active. And there that are always active ..... None are bullied by the theta either.
