Hey ive noticed that my datnoids only show their colors maybe 1/5th of the time. They are almost always just an ugly brown color. Is this normal? and why do they do it? Thanks

get used to it do a search for stable and unstable then you will find all the info you need

I got one IT which loves to show off his color during the WC when the pump shuts off and the water is still. so crazily beautiful with clean golden and dark black that I got to stop cleaning the filter pads and just watch him swim for ten minutes. That ten minutes worth my time for doing maintenance and feeding him. wish he will be like that all the time.

Does anyone kno how to keep the datnoid stable

There no define way or methods to keep datnoid stable. Few factors to coinsider.

-Water condition of your tank- Try to mataine a range pf of 6.8-7.2

-Hiding place- Datnoid like to hide among any structure to make
themselve comfortable especially after feeding.

-Space-In my case, my datnoid tend to like big space for them to roam
around and are usually stable.

-Deco-This is quite subjective. Different peoples with different experience
in the deco place in tank actually able to make the datnoid stable.
"eg: some will put pepple stone as base and some use tiles" info
came from another forum.

-Patient-Well keeping datnoid is one small challenge but having them
stable is the most challenging and most rewarding. I waited 1
years pluss for just some of mine datnoid to be stable which i am
quite happy about it.

I got datnoids that follow me for 1 years pluss and still unstable. After switching over to bigger tank, half of it actually become stable.

All is based on my humble experience. Hope it help :)

BTW stable datnoid brought from LFS dosen't mean stable in your tank and vice verse. Enjoy Tiger keeping
