Hi
I'm considering becoming a MFK and have been looking at a Dat in my LFS. If people could have a look at the pic below I'd be very grateful for an ID (looked at the chart but clearly I'm rubbish at it!). Also what size/type (including plecs) of other fish would be safe (he's about 5" ATM). TIA.

As in quadrifasciatus? That was my suspicion. Is brackish water essential to keep this species comfortably? Also at 5" what kind of other fish would be safe? Finally these appear to be fast growers (for a dat) but what are we talking here; I thought they'd only grow an inch per year, have I been misinformed???

yeah, thats the one. i havent kept any of these before (i have an indo) so i wouldnt know what their temperment is like. but i have read that all species of tigers will do fine in freshwater but these are better off in brackish.

I have one of these guys in completely fresh water, I have had him fore 6-7 months now, and they grow around 1/2" a month maybe a little more if you are lucky. Mine seems to be the most aggressive out of the bunch. They max out at around 10" so anything that gets around that size would be good.

yup silver dats....AT.
