Dat in distress please help!

I've posted this already and no one wrote anything so I'm going to try again. My beloved gold Dat Marty is not eating. He has always eaten shrimp, silver sides, and cut white fish. He had feeder minnows but so did the other two dats and several bichirs and that was months ago. There is no gravel in the tank. He still desperately goes after the food but mouths it and spits it out. Any idea what could be causing this? Parasite, blockage, internal damage? Any ideas would be helpful please post anything that comes to mind.

It is a thin bar dat i bought him as a gold dat so that's what I've been calling him. He's about 6-7 inches

He spits the entire thing out and he wont go after smaller pieces because he is a greedy pig

He's stable and doesn't have any external damage so i have no idea what could be causing him to act so strangely

Oops.I asked because they are the dats that seem to be most prone to various afflictions and maladies.It sounds like your dat has parasites in the mouth or gill area.

Whats the best course of action to fix this? Treat it like any other parasitic issue?

Get some Coppersafe and treat with that.It's probably a good idea to treat the whole tank rather than isolating your goldy,how big is the tank?
