I had to swap around some fish and tanks this spring break. And I got a chance to handle my big dats.
Oh man, unbelievable how heavy my big IT got. in the tank, I thought it is around 4-5lb and 20" or so. but when i got it out of water O__O I swear it is near 6lb and we taped it out, it was exactly 21"!
and equally magnificent, the "little" ST ( 13-14" ) was much easier to handle , I sure do feel special and blessed to be able to handle an extinct in the wild animal ( hope they find a way to breed them so these beauties will continue to exist )

you need to checkout the huge st at my lfs

its at least 3" longer than your it, it's super stable, but just sits in the top corner of the display tank all the time

if im ever in the area ill get some pics

a 24" ST ? I know one of the members here have a 25" . but nevertheless, a 24" would be quite a sight to see! Where is this? ^_^

dats are known for their loyalty and willingness to be held by their owner most dats remain motionless when held out of water.
while, some with personality will play with you. My big IT was yawning like "comon, get this done already " , and his gill plates actually cut my hands and drew blood. But no big deal, just means you have a closer relationship with your fish

oh I've seen that one many times. His is very interesting. As it is definitely ST body shape, and I even want to say it is a little short body. I can tell you though, mine is definitely longer, but his is definitely higher and thicker
