Keep the temp at 86-87. Baby dats like the warmer water, it makes them want to eat more, and it helps prevent disease.

just curious to the guys keeping their fish at 86* and up... why? i can't imagine anywhere in the world where the water is that warm.

I keep mine at 80* and they seem fine.

I put fresh crushed garlic in a tea strainer hangingin the water over night..... next day.

These little monsters are starving and ready to eat.

I keep mine at 80* and they seem fine.

At 86* there are fewer pathogens in the water b/c the life cycle is sped up. Also helps the dats grow faster due to increased metabolism; by how much? not much.

I wouldn't keep them at 86* for long because it can be stressful. I kept my dime sized at 86* b/c they had ich, but after it was taken care of I slowly lowered it to 81*'ish

I keep my dats in the temp range of 78-82 and they do just fine. Then again i dont have babies.

I try to never overfeed. Often feeding every other day. There more active that way. Also vary the diet but try to have pellets as
staple.
