Dat questions

Thanks for the replies and input. I think I'm gonna go look at him again tomorrow and decide from there. I REALLY like him. I just dont want to rush into buying. But I have been watching him for almost 2 months! If i was to get it and put it in the 29 for now would he be better by himself or with a couple non-threatening tankmates for interaction?

Dat's tend to feel more comfortable if there are a couple tank mates in there swimming around. Kind of tells the Dat that there is nothing to be threatened by, or why else would the other fish be out and about.

That being said, it is only a 29 gallon, so you want to make sure the bioload is not to much. And because NTT's are usually timid, especially at small sizes, I wouldn't put anything aggressive with it.

Thanks again tczeli. I went out and got him today!! I have him floating right now. I have three small (2") spotted silver dollars in there right now that I pulled from my 75. he looks good but went a little unstable from the car ride. they told me he was eating frozen foods but when I came in today there was feeders in the tank, so that might be an issue I didnt plan on. Any suggestions on getting him to accept prepared foods? I will post pics when I get time.

To get it on froz foods this is what I did. I just starved my tigers for about a week..I offered them froz bw and krill everyday until they ate it..Now they eat any froz food I put in there.

When you guys say acclimate slowly, how slow is slow? I usually float the fish in bag for 20 minutes. Then I add about a half cup of my tank H2O, in 5 minute increments, until the fish bag is full. Finally I net the fish and put him in my tank. Total time is at least 35 to 40 minutes. Is this what you guys do too, or is there another way?
thanks

They way I acclimated mine was using the air tubing with a valve on the end, i just put the fish in a bucket with the water they came in, then siphon water from the tank and adjust the valve to a steady drop till the water in the bucket doubled in volume or till the bucket filled to the top then scooped them out with the net and into the tank...i think total time was about hour half to 2hours.

He's REALLY shy so far, so pics are gonna be tough and I did'nt think of taking some before i took him out of the bag. He seems to be doing well so far though. I put some krill in there and he hesitantly went after it this morning. I'll take that as a good sign since I saw him eat feeders just yesterday. I will try to get some pics.

bump for pics

Alright I finally got around to getting some pics up! Which I need to do anyway for positive ID. I believe it's a ntt but I dont know for sure and i'm inexperienced with dats. And the the lfs did'nt know. Any help on positve ID is greatly appreciated.
