My two dats started doing the same thing 4 days ago. They wouldn't stop. All of the rest of the fish in the tank were fine. They just kept scratching and scratching. Then on the 2nd day, the thin bar got a film on him and the indo started gettiing red. I have them Q'd now. Rid-Ich, clean water and lots of salt. They are slowly improving. I'm not sure if it's a parasite or an infection.....I just know they're getting better. a lil

scratching is common for dats. unless they are harming themselves, dont worry about it, its just a dat thing.
Mine was doing it OCD like. Every 5-10 seconds ALL day.

flashing and scratching (for most fish) is a sign of parasite or fungal infection. watch of fungus and whitespot, and treat accordingly if thats the case. otherwise, it should be fine
