i thought so too, but then i looked up where they natively occur, and they can be found in quite a few lakes......... this leads me to beleive that in my exseivly hard water(so. cal) and ph of 8.2 they should be fine, mabe, mabe not

oops, after further research ive discovered that the lakes silver datnoids are present in are saltwater lagoons................ nvm on the silver dat then............

well its a dat cambelli thats for sure but if you are thinking of buying more than 1 then you will need to buy 5 or 6 or they will beat the crap out of each other

i have a 11inch NGT and it is the big boss of the tank and any other tiger that is even close to his size he is always boxing up yet he wont go near any tiger thats 3inches smaller or any other type of fish no matter what size

i call them tigers as thats the glory name they deserve dats sounds horrible

I have a 7' NGT with bigger Dats 8-11' and he's fine, maybe because they're bigger. I also have a 4' NGT in with a 4" wide bar and they're fine, tank size and individual personalities probably has a lot to do with it. By the way I've always understand that NGT like salt in their water like silvers do.

Its the intraspecific agression thats the problem. They don't mind too much of other species of dats.

Was that supposed to be 4" or maybe a 4' tank???

Silver can be kept in fresh, I've talked to a number of people that have SD at 12" in fresh. Thats why Im growing one now...

NGT are mainly aggressive to its own kind, I just got 1 (should go get the other) and it was in with 2 gold dats with no probs.

and who is blake? a seller (on here) or just a local person?

very lucky...
