Datnoid Dilemma

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I really like the look of the dimmer lights in other tanks ive seen anyways, so I'll ditch the 4ft tubes. Wouldn't work for live plants, but don't currently have any.. Maybe I'll try removing the decor too, only leaving a few small rocks like you've got, and see how they As far as more datnoids go, anyone know of any good sources?

Also, do you think lowering the lighting could help. Right now I only have 2 40w T8 bulbs, which isn't much for a 120G. My AT was always out swimming, but my indos go from cave to cave, never really stay out, until the lights turn off. Maybe this wouldn't feel the need to stay in shelter then?

I use dim lighting, 25 watt t8, only one. And it's a short tube 2 ft. Which provides a light and dark area

I had 17 dats in one tank at one point and they were all fine. I have 3 big indos in one tank right now and they are fine and in another tank i have 4 monster dats and they are fine. They have no where to hide. Now in another tank i have 2 small indos and they have hiding spots but they fight. So try no decor or get more dats. If you get more dats make sure its an Indo because you already have 2 and dats tend to pick on there on kind.

I'll take out the decor, and let you guys know if it works.
Yeah, I'll stick with the indos. Like their appearance better than my silver, even though my silver had alot more spunk. Next time I go to Minneapolis, I'll see if they can order some. In order to through in with my gar, they need to be at least 5" or they'll be food. Thats seems to be the trouble finding on finding more Dats...

I would try to get more, that usually works ;)

A LFS owner told me Datnoids are seasonal, but he mainly gets the silvers(AT's). Any idea if the IT's are the same, and if they are, what time of year?

They are but they are coming around right now.
Sweat, I'll see if I can get some ordered, or even better, find some in stock. I'd like to get 2-3 more at same time, seems like there would be less territorial issues that way. Just might be tricky finding them all @ 6"+ around here.
