Ok, I'm officially sold on these fish. They're just gorgeous.
I've got an 8' 250 g tank with 2 Oscars, 10 Clown Loaches (5"-8") a female Convict & 5 Silver Dollars. Nobody bothers or chases anybody, real peaceful tank. The 2 Oscars are the typical goofy fish. I've put the tiniest fish in their tank and they've never bothered them.
Is this good for a juvie Thin Bar Datnoid?? Would he be ok to them?
Man, no wonder you Dat People are so gung-ho on these fish!
Edit: Should I get more than 1 or doesn't it matter to them?

I have a couple of juvie NTT's and they seem to hold their own very well in an aggressive monster tank:D. Try it and find out. I do hope you get afew NTT's so your new tank buddy can have friends of the same species.

Please watch very carefully @ how your NTT breathes before you buy. They are known to have flukes on their gills and this could be deadly cause its too late to treat sometimes.

Thanks, Bomber! I know with a lot of fish they don't always appreciate their own species so I wasn't sure with Dats. I was going to have to order online, there's no decent LFS's around here that would carry anything more unusual than Dalmation Mollys :-/
Datnoides-I know-what cool fish, I love their heads. I need to find some vendors on here that I can order some youngsters from.

The wagon is still here, why not buy some IT's. These are Indo Tigers with a much better persoanlity from the start. The NTT's are very very shy....

What do you mean? Who's got them? I'd love to buy some IT's. Point me in the right direction.

I personally wouldnt put small dats in with oscars as i think the dats may be a bit too brave for their own good when they grow a bit as i found out with my old one until my rtg got fed up with the little guy nipping at him.
But as you said, your oscars have been ok with small fish so may work.

Steve

I hadn't thought of the Dat picking at the Oscars.....I've had 4 or 5 different 1" fish in with these Oscars (& my other Oscars) and they act like they don't even see them. If the Dat picked at them I'm pretty sure they'd just sit there and get beat up. I guess it's worth a shot though, they're such pretty fish.

i think it would be the oscars pickin on the dats...
Os are way more aggressive feeders than dats and grow faster than dats. so the dats might not have a chance... unless u get a bigger dat then they can fend off the Os and if the convicts start breeding its gonna b bad news for the little dats
