.....and besides, there are tons of cool native Audtralian fish that you guys can keep that may never be exported.
Yes, very few though. I've seen Lutjanus Argentimaculatus, Mogurnda Adspersa and Mogurnda Mogurnda, Murray Cod and so many more, almost every native to PNG and Aus I have seen in America, very few I haven't like some rainbowfish, Honey Blue eyes some Gudgeon and Gobby species etc. America gets EVERYTHING, and whats more, a lot of the time our natives are the same price if not cheaper in USA!!!!
I just get very annoyed sometimes, I don't understand lol.

Dats ... it's what's for Dinner.

I don't think I would ever be able to eat a fish that I know people keep as a pet. But that is just me.

I wonder if there's a difference in texture & taste of our tanked raised dats compared to wild caught ones with all the foreign things we feed them & chemicals we add to the water over a long duration.prob won't ever test out dats to see, but maybe i'll test this someday with a fish caught out of local ponds..yellow or white perch etc.

Meh this is a pet fish forum not a food / wildlife hunting website.

I think it's interesting, reminds us that others have different perspectives. No matter how rare or valuable we find a fish (or any other animal) there's always someone who needs to feed their family.

Hell I would eat any of the fish we keep, including dats. Piscivores (fish eaters) usually end up tasting a lot better then other fish, which are basically all of our fish haha. Really wanna try dat though, if you kept the skin on it would be a pretty filet haha

Pretty sure there is a fishing forum on here Adam. Fishing and fish keeping go hand in hand. I love eating fresh caught fish, I'd love to be in a locale one day that I could catch a fresh dat and clean it up.

Fish are friends, but they are also food. One of the biggest food sources for sure. People will be leaning more towards it as more messed up info about the factory farm industry comes out

Also, fish were food before they were pets. Anyone who takes offense at a thread like this needs to be more mature before going on the inter webz
