how do people grade datnoids or by the matter any fish? i know some differences are notable aka mixed bar vs clean when i comes to datnoids but i see some a/b datnoids that are the same yet the A grade costs significantly more. just curious.
dats are not graded by how many bars that they have. is just different types. mix bar less desirableDatnoids are graded by firstly how many bars they have; 3 or 4. Three bars are priced significantly higher.
2nd is how clean they are. If they have blotches on their bodies which go against their stripes, they would be marked down again.
3rd depends on how stable they are as well. Unstable datnoids are darker coloured and are priced lower cuz their stripes would be less obvious, and faded. The brighter and more yellow they are the more expensive they will be.
Lastly would be the body shape. People tend to go for the ratfaced datnoids with a high back, compared to one with a bullet head look. Some also look at the stomach, if it’s curved inwards it will be less desirable compared to one with a full belly, priced down.
What I meant and put was three bars are priced higher than 4 bars -> I put it in my wording.dats are not graded by how many bars that they have. is just different types. mix bar less desirable
stability doesnt matter, its datnoid they go in and out. clean 3 bar that is all black in someone else tank may be gold in my tank. up to owner get it stable
u say sell faster, not worth more ok. an perfect stripe black datnoid still is clean. u need to remember it's an indo. stability go in and out. What I meant and put was three bars are priced higher than 4 bars -> I put it in my wording.
Stability does it fact matter, most people would choose a datnoid which is fully stable over one that is fully black. If I were to place a fully stable datnoid over one that was unstable with faded stripes in the market, I dare say the one stable would sell out much faster.
Never said clean and stability are the same thing, I put it in two different sections. I also will say stable tigers would be placed at a higher price as well.u say sell faster, not worth more ok. an perfect stripe black datnoid still is clean. u need to remember it's an indo. stability go in and out.
All NTT have 3 bars. He is talking about Indo dats. It’s very important that they are stable when you buy them because you won’t be able to see the smaller smudges or imperfections when they are dark. Also, ones with full lines that connect at the belly are more valuable (full belt and necklace). Wider, straighter bar are better and so on and so forth. The list goes on…MY NTT is clean bar 3 with perfect shape, his color is also a pretty nice gold, i would grade him A but i honestly dont have any references
That’s right. I would prefer a dirty 4 bar with a full belly over a 3 bar with a sunken belly any day.I don't go for any of this 'grade' business. It is whatever you like.
Over here, when a new batch of tiny indo come through, first the clean three bars are sold as the most expensive. But there are not many. Then the four bars, those with 'full necklace' are also sought after and expensive. The dirty three bars are often cheaper than four bars.
I like the odd patterns and standard proportional body.
Grade means nothing. It is a bit like asking the fish how they rate their respective aquarists.
