datnoid grading

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is a bit like asking your wife to put a grade on her husband. Don't try it, you're not going to like it.

do NTTs not have grades then since they are all 3 bar?

apologizes for reentering this conversation but recently i’ve come across datnoid grading that goes above A, i’ve seen upwards of $600+ for AAA grade 3 bar indo datnoids. Yet i personally can’t tell a large enough of a difference for the double spike in price, are datnoids with curved bands more wanted than ones with straight bands that go down? My example stems from wraith4444 which have extremely high quality datnoids and all of their bars are curved at the end towards the tail. is there something i’m missing for datnoid grading above A? it’s easy to tell the difference between an A and a B grade but above A it seems unnoticeable. Thanks

First of all there is no need for you to apologize for "reentering the conversation",this is your thread afterall and if you happen to have more questions, ask away lol.
I don't know who wraith4444 is but I'm guessing he sells dats but I pretty much agree with all that has been said in previous posts, especially Midwater Midwater where he said all the grading jargon are just marketing ploys.

here’s his instagram, he’s a japanese based mostly datnoid exporterhttps://www.instagram.com/wraith444444?igsh=MWQ1ZGUxMzBkMA==

second of all, I agree with the marketing ploy but if the different “grades” genuinely have a difference per separated category it might be easier to tell which category i prefer the most as it is completely subjective. problem is that the range with Datnoids grade A and above are confusing for me, i like the curved bands but does that indicate its grade AAA rather than A and as a result i should be looking for grade AAA as the category instead?

There is no real standard with grades one person can see it as one thing someone else can see it as something else. Everything is subjective(the key is to get what you like). Once you have decided if a full belt, necklace, connecting bars, mixed bars, short body, high body, spoon head, fuzzy datnoids are the type you want to go for it. I personally like variety having a bunch of 4 bars or 3 bars all clean that look identical isn’t what I was looking for. I have 2 NGT 3 clean 3 bars 3 clean 4 bars 3 dirty 3 bars 3 dirty 4 bars 1 fuzzy 3 bar 2 xantic and 1 ST see them all @primitive_lives on IG. Before I had any datnoids I only wanted clean bars after I got them I realized I actually like the mix/odd balls more to me they are more one of one. If I were you I would talk to an exporter let him know exactly what you are looking for and see if they can source it and give him your budget.

The bars that taper back I call daggers look better imo and are harder to find.

I care more about stable and non stable. What I am looking for right now is a short body NTT or super high body 4 bar. I would say first decide on what you want to pay then go from there. It doesn’t matter to me how nice a 3 bar short body non tuck tail dat is I am not paying 3.5k I would pay that however for a short body ST

Actually, I am not totally adverse to all this 'grading' bollocks. Clean three bar are sold off first, then clean four bar. Dirty three bars get left over and sold cheap, and are my favourite.

Another term, 'high quality', dunno what that means at all.

There seems to be an industry of buying a batch of IT fry directly from Sumatra, growing them out minimally, and splitting them into sub-batches, passing them on, and inventing grade and quality.

Don't think the fish care at all.

Be careful how you spend your money.

i see, i was wondering since grading seems so big but also a subjective concept whether it actually out characteristics into play. i’ve seen some straight bars and dagger bars both in the AAA category which i thought was only for dagger bars.

this whole charade started because one of my exporter friends was offering me a straight wide 3 bar high body clean for $180 and i was wondering how i would communicate how i like dagger bars more. I currently don’t really like oddballs/mixed/dirty/fuzzy bars because it strikes a level of ocd in me but i can see why people would like them; the bars of mixed and oddballs are unique, unlikely to be found anywhere else for a certain pattern. I think they’re neat but they’d have to grow on me.
