They must be extremely rare in Austrailia to charge that price!!!!!!!!!
Yeah,as he stated.I recall a while back another Aussie member mentioning the high prices for some tropical fish once they reach that area....Give it time to settle in and it should begin to look nice for you.

Yeah prices are way over the top in Aus. We pay more for jardini's that are caught here then you guys.

Hoping he settles well, would like to get him onto frozen food and pellets if at all possible. As I said my first Dat. So not sure how he will go.
He is just in my small grow out tank whilst my 650g is finished in 2 weeks. Have another 220g he can go to if need be.
He ate all the cardinals in the grow out overnight. But there are tetras there he leaves alone. hopping he sees them eat. Soon going to remove all other fish to the 220g so he has his own tank to try to train on food. Any advice is much appreciated.

I feed my NTT small raw shrimp. The ones I get are whole with the shells on.Don't give him anything elsefor a few days and then try dropping a shrimp or two so it lands near him,he should bite.Once he takes the shrimp you can try other cuts of fish meat or even earthworms but no more feeders. It takes time but he will come around.

Hello mate!

Congrats on your new NTT, but you really scared me with those prices. I am planning to move to Australia for a while in a couple of years, but now I am really going to try to take my fish collection with me instead of starting over in Australia.. Although I know it can be very hard to bring pets into Australia, probably need to go in quarantine...

Are all types of tropical fish that expensive in Aus? Saltwater as well?

Good luck with your NTT!!

Please ID this one I got recently. Going for $40 here at 4 inches. There's one more at lfs might go back tomorrow and buy it.

Ha ha, most fish would fall into the reasonable to expensive price-range. Most new world cichlids are priced fairly. Not cheap but not outrageous. Marine are the same, not cheap but not really expensive. But anything rare ie asian arowana, datnoid, giant gouramis, gars, rays etc are all fairly expensive. The dat I got was on the real high end of expensive (obviously), you would never expect to pay anything near that for most fish besides aros. and private sellers usually have better prices than shops.
It would be very difficult to bring in your own fish I would think and especially depends on the species, as a lot are not allowed down here as well.

Ok, well that is a relieve then.. Think I just switch back to cichlids or marine then and find a good friend here to take care of my current stock. Besides.. who needs a fish tank in Australia, it's surrounded by the biggest and most awesome aquarium in the world right :). Good luck again with your Dat.. Hope you enjoy it a lot!
