Datnoid in 125?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If you get them when they are small, around 3"s or so, you can keep them in that tank for years. With power feeding it took 2yrs to get my 2.5" IT to 8"s+, so you will have a lot of time in that tank, and as long as all the fish are close to the same size you can keep a 16" Datnoid in a 180-220 just fine.

I agree!! i am planning on moving up to my 150 tall next week. I have a 10" IT living in my 52 gallon for 4 months with no problems. He will be good in the 150 for a while. Re-Homing big Dats is a good way to help pay for upgrading tanks! I do not see a problem selling a healthy 15" dat if it comes to that! i still think the 24" depth of the tank will fine for a while!

The 150tall is not that great, it is only 4ft x 2ft footprint, I actually upgraded from a 150tall to a 220 just for the larger footprint. Just something to consider.

would love too. i may be able to squeeze a 60" tank in the space someday....even a 300g! I think i will be good for at least 3 years at a 1/4 per month growth rate on my Dats. I may have to re home some fish as i go but I have never had a problem doing so.

You can keep a dat in a 125 for a LONG time. I feed mine quite a bit and he has only grown about 1 inch per year. I plan on upgrading to a 180 at some point and that will keep any dat comfortable for life.

I'm debating still on the datnoid or arrowana

a 125 is way to small for any Arrowana...

I kno it wouldn't be In there for life

The 125 would last an Arowanna months but will last a Datnoid years. Just something to think about.
