Datnoid pattern has faded, will it return? pics

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
only takes freeze dried krill, frozen silverside and tankmates small enough to be digested.

Your 'After' photo is what my 8" Indo looks like at its best & thats very occasionally. Otherwise hes totally black & hides. I only see it about an hour before lights out & I can go days without this happening.
The only time I've seen it remotely looking like some of the ones on this site was the first day i put it in the tank. I had a shoal of full grown Giant Danios & a shoal of Aurelius Babrs-in time the Indo ate the lot during the night.
recently i tried adding an Oscar-rationale being that a big fish would entice it out more. Had to remove the Oscar as when it began really grow the Indo would beat the balls of it at night.
He shares a tank now with 3 Bichirs, Leopard Perch, Small Silver Dat (not quite as skittish) and a 12" Gar.when the tank lights are off he comes out but still remains black. I'm thinking of adding a shoal of dither fish (say 4-5) of a decent size but otherwise have resigned myself to the fact its the dullest, most boring fish I've ever kept.

berserker- yeah I know how you feel. Sounds like we both had the same experiences from the color fading to aggressive toward other tankmates and to the eating of tankmates. Don't give up on him just yet. have you thought about 4-5 silver dollars? they may or may not be able to take a couple days beating to stick it out. I noticed that after a day or two my Indo came to terms that the Hampala will be in there for quite some time and now they are cool and even feed together. Good luck though, and p.s my Indo hasnt fully colored up to where he was.

Dollars were a thought. I'm also thinking of reducing the fluorescents from 2 to 1 to see what happens-He seems to like the dark.
Cheers ROB
