datnoid pellet question...!

i know its been asked a lot but i wanna know.. cause.. hes starting to get expensive to feed i wanna give him away but it hurts and i dont want to
i feed my flowerhorns shrimp pellets... but my datnoid refuses to take any of the shrimp pellets.., unless the food is in a shrimp form he wont take anything else except shrimp?!? what can i do to get him to start taking shrimp pellets?!?!

what size is he ??

how long has he gone without eating ??
 
if it's big enough to try the starvation technique, that is what I would do. my NTT only eats FD krill from the surface, but my AT eats everything.
 
hes maybe like 4inches? or 5 at the most yeah ^ he only eats like freeze dried.. and its getting expensive when its costing me like 10 bucks everytime
 
Maybe you should try tetra colorbits, my 3.5" AT and 2.5" IT loves it a lot..

In contrast, my 5" IT doesnt like it, it wont touch on anything unless it is frozen or live..

Im even training my baby oceli peacock bass to eat pellets, they spit out everytime, but after a day or two on the same food, they gave in.
 
maybe just starve...my dats eat pellets, but they eat only a little, feeding them mainly pellets will slow down the growth critically, they may be stunted!
 
This is the stuff (pellets) that my two small datnoid and my RTCxTSN catfish like. They gobble it all the time

and where are you located? Wanna trade your IT for my two smaller one? 100% pellets friendly :D Can show you the feeding too :D

my dat is the same way. wont touch a pellet. only krill or real shrimp. i tried the starvation method, went on for 3 weeks or more and he jus refuses anything but shrimp/krill

if anyone has a real method that would get mine on pellets, that'd be sweet. but seems not likely
 
any other fish in there to "teach" it to eat other foods? i hear that works w/ dats. hasn't work with mine, though. what brand/type are you feeding it? you could maybe try stuffing it's food with pellets.
 
gonna try the pellet stuffed shrimp tomorrow. my dat watches my aro/endli/clown loach grub on pellets lol, still no interest
