I was also thinking water related. It's always better to test before a water change however I agree if you don't have the ability to test do the water change 50% and test when you can. Once you gat a test kit also test your tap water so you have a base line and adjust you wc schedule accordingly.

Yes I use tap water but use seachem prime appropriately. I also add a table spoon of aquarium salt for every 5 gallons I change (only of water I remove) My last water change was 3 days ago and I always do every week. His tank mates seem fine I will definitely check the water as you guys suggest

I only asked you if soak the krill first cause dats of that size can sometimes choke on unsoaked fdk. This could cause an infection. Not saying this is what's going on here. Just trying to come with something. And yes waterquality could have caused this which can cause a redlike ulcer. But you said he was eating, which doesn't usually go with poor water quality and ulcers. If this fish is eating normal and acting as normal as a healthy dat should, I wouldn't worry too much. fdk and bloodworms really aren't gonna provide all the necessary growth inducers and disease preventative ingrediants vs a pellet or wholefish

Been very hard to get him on pellets, lfs said FDK is a complete food source. Got water tested today at LFS all parameters are normal
