skip the 150 and get a 180 a dat in a 29 hmmm probally get a year but what is the upgrade tank gonna be a 55 wont cut it its still 12" deep and a 75 @18" deep will only be another short term thing if you cant house it from the begining you shouldnt buy the fish

Hell I think a 125 would last years and years before you need upgrading. Even then an 18" wide tank would be fine for a 14" dat IMO. They are not incredibly active fish. Everyone here seems to say you need a 1 bajillion gallon tank to house a guppy. Have you guys not seen the beautiful/healthy fish in Asia crammed in relatively small tanks?

My post was about keeping Dats in General. The bigger the tank, the more Dats you can have

It would be a good start, but you'd have to upgrade as he outgrows it.

I agree, my thinbar started in a 29, and grew well. Just be prepared to have a large tank long term.

i can house it but my lfs said a 150 should be sufficient might as well get a 180

i think around 16'' is max although most large ones are rarely seen that size, around 14'' is probably correct.

I have 6 Indos in a 29g that are about 1" I'll be upgrading to a 300 hopefully pretty soon within the next year.
