Any Datnoid pro know what this is and how to treat it. They are eating and active. It also looks like it’s spreading to other datnoids only. Their dorsal spine have white stuff

Temp is at 82, it’s weird cause they are active and eating. I moved them to a separate tank and currently lower temp to 76 and treating with sulfaplex. Not sure what’s the correct med for this disease. Some type of fungus?

Looks rough alright. I would add salt @ 1tbsp/5gal as well to reduce bacterial load in the water column, stimulate slime coat regeneration, and help prevent secondary bacterial infection.
This could be a long shot, and I have never kept dats before, but I notice in a lot of pics that they do like to hang vertically alongside structure. Is it possible its heater burns?

not a heater burn, I have them in my hob. It’s a mix of injury from fighting with each other which leads to some secondary infection and then they spread it to each other. The weird thing is they act fine, swim around and eat. The infection starts at the tip of the dorsal spine and then spread all over the top. The bacteria seems to only impact the Datnoid specie

How bizarre
Exactly the same I have had with my 12" datnoid up until recently. It took a few weeks to clear but its clear and the fish looks happy and stable again not that he looked particularly unhappy with the white stuff
Mine was all over the dorsal spikes too I wondered if it had been damaged in a spat etc but who knows
I couldnt seperate mine so I literally treated the tank with acraflavin, switched my UV off and kept up the same temperature and water change routine so the only difference was adding acraflavin every wednesday and sunday for 3 weeks until it went

Its been about 4 weeks now since it went and it hasnt returned
