Datnoid with pimple

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Put him in a quarantine tank if at all possible. If he takes a turn for the worst, euthanize him, but he may recover. Maybe it is a pimple, or maybe it is that pimple of death disease that I have heard so little about. It it is a disease, and its contagious, you want to isolate him. In other words get him a quarantine tank as soon as you can.

I can't tell from the angle but does it protrude a lot? My biggest Thinbar had a similar thing 2 weeks ago which grew over time-looked like a big zit/spot.

I took a risk and got a sterile needle from work (25G) and took the fish out and aspirated it. The growth disappeared immediately, I kept the tank pristine and one week you can't see a thing. I have no idea what it was but its gone and thats how I treated it. I looked into and couldn't identity it therefore couldn't get any meds for it.

I should add 3-4 months my NGT had the same problem. I'd had the NGT for nearly 2 years with no problems. I'd read about people with simlar problems who suggested squeezing the growth. I did this and a week later the NGT got very ill and died. This is why I decided to use a syringe and needle instead. Still very risky I know but I couldn't decide on what treatment to use

I don't think it is Dat Disease. My understanding is this mainly applies to NGT and recently added ones from the wild. I'd had mine fr nearly 2 years

Update: So I threw the dat with pimple into a quarintine tank raised the temp to 31-32 degrees c, added alot of salt and did water change everyday for 5-6 days and he has completly healed up and is swimming and eating good in the big tank. I think what caused it was bad water because I had high ammonia in the tank and 1 of my stealth heaters died on me and caused some ich to form. the ammonia was at 4 at one point, dont know how but after alot of wc's I have it down to .50 a ph of 6 nitrite at 0 and I cant get my nitrate to go up its at 0.:headbang2
