Datnoids, are they all wild caught?

hahaha you have the thickest #$%^$ i have ever known about dats, hence no point sharing anything with you if you think your the best anyways, i'd rather learn and share rather than have to share and get told that i am a kid.

i won't prove or argue with you anymore, so i won't reply you or any of your professic assumptions about dats.

i hopefully will share my pics and the fish market in Thailand, and experiences with other people on dats, i have had over ten years experience with them, but still alot of questions that need answering, but i will start a new thread. hope i won't see you there as you already know it all.

until you can prove that tigers are captive bred go away you are wasteing your time

you just twist yourself up in knots

the thread is are all tigers wild caught i say yes you say no they are captive bred BUT YOU HAVE NO PROOF until you show us something new you have nothing
 
I recall seeing posts of a Japanese magazine article detailing an ongoing Datnioides breeding project/farm in southeast Asia. My understanding was that it was at this point still a "project" in that successful breeding had not yet been documented. I also understand that there are similar efforts afoot, but I haven't seen any documentation of successful breeding attempts. Of course, my understanding is limited to what I've been told, as I can't read Japanese, nor do I have any first hand knowledge of these efforts. :( Does anyone have that article and the ability to translate it?

hmmm, in singapore, i heard that there are no true juvenile ST selling in the market. mostly are cross breed with IT.

i feel that Lor Tiger Fish is right, ST is extinct in the wild, only in captive breed. there are problems breeding them in captivity. thats why the supply is low. i do support the thai in breeding them. the secret of breeding is only available to them. there i think we should respect their decision not to disclose any of it about the breeding of ST.

OK, I thought this discussion was long gone but I guess not.

1 -Their is NO evidence of any breeding.

2 - LOK says they're only extinct in one basin not everywhere (and i dont no if any of it is true anyway since he doesnt seem like a very reliable source)

3 - IF their is breeding (IF) their would be NO cross breeding because of the low success rate of normal breeding. To think they are starting to try and cross breed tigers that they cant even get to breed successfully with their own species is foolish.

4 - If they do know how to breed them and wont tell anyone their secret, we do not need to respect that decision because, that decision isnt beneficial to the fish

5 - Their is such thing as a CT, it is a Cambodian tiger, it refers to a ST from a certain water basin.

If you were the Thai government, would you reveal such secrets to the world, when datnoids are currently worth so much? Would you teach the Vietnamese and Cambodian governments how to breed them? Would you choose to share such a huge market with other countries? Is Thailand in such a great economic/financial state right now that they can afford to give some cash to Vietnam and Cambodia?

If you read this whole thing, Lok talks about how they are trying to breed them for benficial reasons. To make sure the fish is around forever and doesnt go extinct. If that is their purpose it would be better to tell EVERYONE how to breed them.

But anyway, noone NEEDS to respect any decision. If you feel (like I do) that telling everyone their secret (if they have one) would help the population of this fish, then you dont need to respect that they are keeping it a secret.
