Setting up a 155 tank today and I really want to try out some Datnoids.. I'd like to get a bunch of them small and grow them out. I know they are slow growers but I feel like It will be more satisfying in the end knowing I grew these beasts from such a small size :p Now I am COMPLETELY new to Datnoids. Have never owned one. How many IF any can live in a 155 for life? What kind would be the best for me to start off with? and what would be some good tank mates from these guys? thank you!

I'm no expert but 3 adult IT would be good for a 155 I think.Ax size 18 but supposed to grow really slow after 6-7".they are the most common IT. AT/silver datnoids aare the smallest maxing 12" but said to be more aggressive . Also datnoids are very aggressive to each other so its suggested to keep as a single specimen or min 3. They are hard to get on pellets also. (Mine liked them from the beginning at. 5" :)

In an Ideal situation I'd like to get them as small as possible. Maybe like 4-5 inches at most. So 3-4 would be really nice. Do you Have any suggestions on tank mates?

My friend bought three dats on Black Friday the size of a Dime or even smaller, and now there honestly the size of a toonie or even bigger. They just look amazing so far. Quick growers my friend has.

He must of gotten really lucky lol. I've heard and read and talked to a lot of people that said they grow pretty quick until they hit the 6 or 7 inch mark and then just like stop completely lol. I've been over to see Strollo92s tank and he has some pretty sweet datnoids that he's grown out and he even said they take FOREVER to grow out!

Definitely slow growers paster 5-6" but I love them. I'd be willing to trade you one if you want for that Aro. Around 4-5".

DO dats do good with SIlver aros?
Yea they do , do good with silvers but I don't recommend a silver for a 155g.
