hi everyone, i'm doing a direct import from indonesia, and in the list it says they have:

datnoids microlepis from sumatra, papua and borneo... can anyone show or explain the diference to me?

pus i'm getting an asian arowana, i know the green has no dark back, so i don't want that one, but does anyone know if the banjar red has dark back? or is it like the green?

thanx..

that dats are just microlepis caught in different places, although indo dats are named after indonesia they are found elswhere.
get a red tail gold aro it sounds like what your after.

don't take this the wrong way, and of course i thank you for your help but i was kinda looking for expert advice...

what you sayd is obvious, but the dat cost all same size: 20 euros the sumatra, 24 the borneo and 215 the papua one so there should be a diference, i wanned to know what it was...

and the aro, of course i whould rather have an RTG, but it costs 2500 euros and the green 225euros and the banjo red 600. so what i wanned to know is if it whould be worth the prrice diference the banjo to the green since i can't afford the RTG...

thank you all and please try to hel me before the end of the month, since i'm ordering them on the frist...

I'm pretty sure the papuan is the campbelli tiger. I 've seen it labelled as such before and the price is a pretty good guide.

dude, dont start with the aro's for these prices! the RTG is way overprized and the green and banjar arent worth that kind of money.
the banjar red is like 1,5 red and doesnt get very good coloration most of the time.

stiffmaster, remember i leave in portugal and the price includes everything, shiping, papers, cites, plus it comes from indonesia, so you see they will travel half the world to get here...

and again, remember i am from portugal, and the chances of finding a better price are 0.000000000001%

the only thing i really wanned to know is if they get dark on top...

plus any new intel on the dat subject whould be awsome..

thanx you guys:)

Filipe, we'll go ahead and import them.. talk about Impulse Import!! LOL!

That would be my guess as well, especially given the price disparity. Regarding the differences between Borneo and Sumatra D. microlepis,my understanding is that Borneo dats have four thin bars, while Sumatra dats generally have three thicker bars, much like a D. pulcher, but without the backward sweep of the middle bar.

im in the netherlands... not easy to find good quality aro's here either. its up to you, but the prices are steep, especially on the RTG, you can get top quality for one fourth of that prize (without import tho).

well with a price difference like that i would also say the more expensive tiger is a campbelli plus the UK has been bringing in quite a few recently most places can get them.
as for the banjar red, 1.5 red or whatever name they are given no they dont get the dark back. RTG's or xback that dont cross get dark backs or backs that lack shine.
greens, banjar or 1.5 reds have a poorer quality shine which can go all the way over the back but as its not as prominent it does not look as good imo.

no im not an expert but if you have more info posting it in the original post would of helped and not everyone knows indo dats come from other places other than indonesia.

i have however kept dats for some years and owned 4 indo's and currently have 2 pulcher, ive also owned 2 green arowana and currently own a RTG, not an expert by any means but have experience.

Thanks
Dixon
